Preserving your wooden conservatory

Woodcleans very well with soapy water. Every 2 years, we recommend that you protect the parts exposed to the weather by applying a satin-finish glaze after lightly sanding the parts to be stained (with a sponge or No. 220 or 240 gloss paper). Water-based tinting is also possible.

GOOD TO KNOW : These shades should be applied when temperatures are mild (minimum 17°C). The tinting kit? A tinting kit consisting of a pot of water-based woodstain and two scrubbing sponges is available from our After-Sales Service.

Sometimes, the resin in the wood causes drips to appear. This is because the wood used to make your conservatory has been dried but, although the moisture has been extracted, there is still some resin in the wood. Depending on the cut, exposure and ambient temperature, this resin may be forced out of the wood, resulting in dripping. This in no way reduces the conservatory's durability. As the resin is extremely sticky, it should not be spread with a cloth, product or sandpaper.

How do I clean my wooden conservatory?

To clean, simply follow the procedure below:

  • For large drops or drips: leave to run for at least 3 months, allow the drops to dry thoroughly until they are hollow, then scrape them off with a spatula.
  • For more diffuse drips (whitish marks in several places): clean the marks with a soft white cloth soaked in F petrol until they have completely disappeared, then leave to dry.

If necessary (difference in colour), use an abrasive sponge to smooth out the marks, then apply a thin coat of colour in the direction of the grain of the wood over the entire affected area. As wood is a living material, you won't be able to prevent the natural phenomenon of cracks appearing.
