Carport 2 sides
What is a two-sided carport?
If you decide to install a carport, the number of existing models can quickly make you lose your head! Pitched carport, gable carport, porch... There are as many terms as there are possibilities to get lost. In order to fulfil its mission successfully - which is to protect your car - the roof is the key element of the carport.
A gable carport is also known as a double-slope carport. The sloping roof on each side allows rainwater and snow to drain away more easily. In the past, in some regions, it was recommended that the roofs of carports be built with a slope, as they did not have drainage gutters.
A gable carport resembles an open garden shed. The materials used for the roof are tiles, slate, thatch or steel. Very common, this type of carport is rather ordinary and sometimes lacks originality. Despite certain advantages, the gable roof has a significant ridge height. Difficult to install if your outdoor space is limited.
Furthermore, if you use a recent technique such as a truss frame, the attic space will be lost. The traditional frame is much stronger, but also more expensive. It is made of Douglas fir, oak or pine.

The carport positioning

The lean-to flat-roof carport
Leaning against your house and fixed to the ground by 2 posts, the lean-to flat roof carport can accommodate a light vehicle, motorbikes, bicycles or any other vehicle and also protects the entrance to your house or garage with its roof.

The free-standing flat-roof carport
In the island version, on 4 posts fixed to the ground, the carport can be placed at the end of a driveway or at the end of your garden to create a new parking area. The posts must be fixed to the ground on concrete blocks or a masonry slab.

All your questions about the carport 2 sides

What is the difference between a two-sided carport and a porch carport?
-
The modernisation of materials and manufacturing techniques for carports means that a gable roof is no longer necessary. The new roofs collect and drain rainwater and snow. In addition, the roofing materials are ultra-resistant and increasingly effective in terms of insulation.
The carport porch is a carport with a slightly sloping roof. Made to measure, its structure is made of aluminium and offers high resistance to climatic hazards. The sloping roof allows for easy water drainage and prevents stagnation of vegetation. All this makes the cleaning of this aluminium carport simple and particularly pleasant twice a year.
With a porch carport, you can make use of unused outdoor space without adding bulk to your environment. Aluminium combines strength and finesse, creating a very aesthetic look.
And since we make it a point of honour to ensure the design and harmony of the outdoor space, the aluminium porch carport is available in many colours. This customised shelter can match your home down to the very last shade!
When it comes to roofing materials, again you have several choices. It is possible to combine several materials to add comfort and insulation under the carport. Optional extras can also be added, such as solar control or enhanced sound insulation.
As a pitched carport is traditionally topped with a tiled or metal roof, it will not blend easily into the existing landscape. In addition, the cost of construction is higher than for a porch carport.

The flat-roof carport: another solution
-
If you don't have a high enough front on your house or you don't want to attach your carport to your house, we offer the flat-roof carport.
The evacuation at the base of the posts prevents rainwater from stagnating even if the roof is not sloped.
The flat-roof aluminium carport can be leaned against your home or as an island structure. It adapts to the space available on your property and to your needs. This custom-built shelter can be single or double, to shelter one or two vehicles.
Additional equipment such as privacy screens and LED lighting can be added. And it's perfect because the carport looks just like a pergola when no vehicle is parked there!
