Carport for 3 cars
Increasingly popular, the customised carport is an undeniable asset for protecting your car and adding character to your property. Did you know that it is possible to install a 3-car carport? Longer and wider than a single or double carport, it offers a real parking area just a stone's throw from your house! Do you have several vehicles? Would you like to offer your guests a special place for their cars? Practical and attractive, discover the advantages of this XXL carport!
Why install a carport for 3 cars?
Whether it is to protect 1, 2 or 3 vehicles, a carport is above all a shelter. It consists of a structure with a roof on top. Depending on its type and size, the roof is supported by 2 to 12 posts, or even more for very wide 3-car carports.
Less expensive and quicker to build than a garage, it offers great protection from the elements and prying eyes.
When the cars are not parked under your carport, you can adapt its functionality as you see fit. Pergola, pool enclosure, DIY station for the day or even an outdoor office, your carport can be transformed to suit your desires!

Furthermore, although it also depends on the materials used, a three-car carport is much easier to maintain than a garage. It has no walls or doors. If it is made of aluminium, it is quick to maintain (twice a year with a sponge and soap). Furthermore, a 3-car aluminium carport is robust and durable, so additional maintenance or repair costs will be extremely rare.
The absence of walls makes manoeuvring under the carport much easier! You will not be hindered when parking your car, even if other vehicles are parked there. The customised dimensions are designed to make your life easier!
What criteria should you use to choose your triple carport?
By choosing a custom-made carport, you can create a shelter that reflects your image, according to your needs, the layout of your home and your budget. You can choose the materials for the structure and the roof, the type of carport, the optional equipment, the colour, etc.
The materials used for the structure and the roof
Three-car carports are available in aluminium, wood, iron and PVC.
At Akena, we are convinced that aluminium is an easy-to-maintain, strong and very stylish material. This material is flexible and allows us to build carports with fine, clean curves that blend in perfectly with the outdoor environment. Aluminium is robust, ensuring that your carport will remain intact for many years and is easy and pleasant to maintain.
The roof of a triple carport can be flat (flat-roofed aluminium carport) or sloped.
Akena offers several types of materials for your roof:
- polycarbonate roofing is light, resistant and economical;
- insulating sandwich panel roofing conceals and protects your vehicles from heat;
- laminated glass roofing preserves natural light while being impact resistant.
You can complete your selection with insulation or solar control options.
What type of triple carport?
There are two types of carport: the free-standing carport (also known as a detached carport) and the lean-to carport.
The attached carport for three cars is fixed to the front of the house by means of a fixing beam. It is supported in parallel by two, four, six or more posts, depending on its size. It has the advantage of being accessible as soon as you leave the house. Ideal on rainy days for your little family to get in and out without getting wet or for getting the shopping in! As it is in direct contact with the wall, it also offers additional protection from the elements. Manoeuvring your car will be a little more difficult than under a free-standing carport, given the side wall. It is essential to take this into consideration when calculating the dimensions.
A free-standing carport is independent. The roof of a simple carport rests on at least four legs, and the largest three-car carports can have twelve or more posts. It can be installed anywhere in your garden, so you can choose the perfect size for your carport without worrying about the size of your house's front. The space between the carport and your house will not be sheltered, but it does allow for easier manoeuvring. You can add aluminium side screens for more privacy and protection.
