Aluminium pool house: modern and practical this summer

Looking for a shady, functional and attractive pool house to enjoy summer days outside? Attached to the house, installed at the bottom of the garden or on the edge of your terrace, the aluminium pool house will meet your functional needs (equipment storage, tidying up) as well as your comfort requirements. This garden shed is like no other, with its elegance enhanced by its aluminium structure. A durable, modern and comfortable pool house... you've certainly found the extra living space you've been looking for!

Aluminium: the perfect material for your pool house

Front panels, aluminium profiles, posts and even the roof - aluminium is at home in every nook and cranny of contemporary buildings, even pool houses... to the delight of their owners! That's right: this contemporary material has a whole range of advantages worth mentioning:

  • Resistance to the elements. Against all expectations, aluminium doesn't rust like steel! It is also reinforced by appropriate anti-corrosion treatments (qualicoat and qualilaquage labels). This makes it the ideal choice for the harshest climates, as well as the hottest regions. In winter, your pool house can withstand rain and snow without any problems. In summer, this material, treated to minimise its conductivity, will also prevent heat from entering: ideal for maximised comfort and greater energy savings.
  • Easy maintenance. Aluminium is one of the most popular materials: a wipe with a damp cloth is usually all that's needed to maintain its shine over the years.
  • Greater durability: several decades and great resistance to the passage of time.
  • Very good fire resistance. It's unfortunate to mention it, but in the event of a fire, aluminium also comes out on top! This metal generally doesn't melt below 600°C, making it the sworn enemy of fire starts. And that's just one more advantage!
  • Its own unique lightness. Did you know that aluminium weighs just 2.7 g/cm3? That's three times less than the weight of steel (7.5 g) and even less than copper (9 g). This means that aluminium can be used to build more imaginative structures, and is particularly popular for roofs, where it does not impose any additional stress on the structure.

Like the bioclimatic pergola, your pool house has a modern look and quality finish that will undoubtedly appeal to your summer guests. This modern aluminium look will last for years to come!

Some trends in aluminium pool houses

You've got your eye on the pool house... and you'd be right to be tempted by aluminium. But what imaginative ways are there of bringing warmth and conviviality to your relaxation area? Here are a few made-in-Akena ideas:

  • The decorative screen. This slotted aluminium wall is undoubtedly the design element you need to give your pool house that special touch. Choose your colour and motif for a 100% customised aluminium pool house.
  • The adjustable and sliding shutter, for maximum comfort all summer long! The slats of this aluminium blind can be adjusted from 0 to 120°, so you can protect yourself from the sun when it gets too strong. Modulate your aluminium pool house day by day, according to the climate of the moment! It's an extra comfort you don't want to be without.
  • The motorised awning. This hard-wearing, micro-ventilated awning lets you keep your pool house bright while protecting you from the sun's sometimes harmful rays.

For a top-of-the-range aluminium pool house, you should also consider glazing! Sliding glass panels offer extra character and a touch of modernity, as well as providing protection from the elements. Of course, you'll need to take into account the cost of maintaining the glazing, but it's well worth it!

All your questions about aluminium pool houses

How do I maintain my aluminium pool house?

The maintenance of aluminium structures is one of the questions most frequently asked by Conservatory and pergola owners. How can you prolong the life of your pool house? You'll be delighted to learn that simple seasonal maintenance using a water jet or soapy water is usually all that's needed.

Use a medium-strength jet of water to remove any impurities from the roof or frame structure. As for the posts or your trellis, use a sponge and a non-abrasive product when the weather is fine. Your material will naturally regain its shine!

Is an aluminium pool house more expensive than other models?

Building your pool house in aluminium rather than PVC or wood will cost you a little more. Aluminium is indeed more expensive to buy. However, because it's so easy to handle and lightweight, it's easy to work with and generally results in lower labour costs.

Also, whereas wooden or PVC pool houses have an estimated lifespan of 15 to 25 years, aluminium promises a much longer life. The return on investment is ultimately much better!

To get a concrete estimate of the price of your aluminium pool house, simply send us a request for a quote. We'll get back to you as soon as possible to make an appointment to come and see you at your home, and together we'll work out the project that's right for you, and at the right price. With summer just around the corner, don't hesitate to get started!

Why choose a made-to-measure aluminium pool house?

You can simply choose everything, from A to Z! This is all the more advantageous because by using aluminium, you can afford to be more original, and in particular opt for a wider choice of colours and protection options.

What is the ideal size for my outdoor module?

As Akena pool houses are 100% customisable, the choice of surface area is yours! As a general rule, a pool house designed for storage or swimming pool area takes up between 5 and 10 m² of land, whereas pool houses designed to be occupied are generally designed to be up to 25 m².

Akena tip : if you have a small plot of land but still want to treat yourself to an extra room, why not opt for an all-glass enclosure? Glazed surfaces ensure continuity between your plot and the inside of your pool house, without breaking up the space. What's more, it's modern.

Can the pool house be made from recycled or reclaimed materials?

If the above information hasn't convinced you, let's talk about ecology! Aluminium is 99% recyclable, with no loss of quality. Recycling it is relatively simple, requiring on average just 5% of the energy needed to manufacture the product.

Good to know: aluminium's environmental credentials are due in no small part to its recurrent use in the construction industry. Thanks to advances in technology, the carbon footprint of this metal (the energy required to manufacture and use it, etc.) has fallen by 55% between 1990 and the present day! Aluminium's lifespan is also one of the components of its carbon footprint. With a lifespan of over 40 years, you'll be able to relax in your pool house for years to come.

When asked what is the ideal material for building a pool house, we have no hesitation in answering aluminium. While other aesthetic choices can be used to enhance the surroundings of your pool or your garden (like wood, for example), aluminium has the advantage of being modern, economical and environmentally friendly. It's up to you to make the most of all its benefits, from the comfort of your own garden!
