Sloped roof pool house: your comfortable outdoor space
When it comes to developing your outdoor space, and in particular the area around your pool, it's customary to consider building a pool house. At Akena, the modules on offer are 100% customisable, from the presence of an enclosed cubicle to the choice of sloping roof cladding. The sloping roof pool house is one of the most popular models! It has a reassuring, more traditional feel than flat roofs, and its cachet and durability are well established. Give your garden the best of both worlds.
Sloped roof pool house: the advantages
For those who like reliability, there's nothing like a sloping roof pool house! This type of pool house offers considerable functional advantages, including :
- Good drainage of rainwater. This makes maintenance easier (leaves and other organic detritus don't stagnate up high) and reduces the risk of leaks caused by premature deterioration of the waterproofing.
- Optimised storage space: why not take advantage of the height under the roof to gain a few precious square metres?
- Better air circulation in the space.
The pitched roof pool house also allows owners to take full advantage of the sunshine while benefiting from improved air circulation.

Our achievements
Installing a pool house at home: steps to follow
A small utility room or a large storage shed? A simple poolside shelter, a multi-purpose space or a real garden house? Identifying your needs is the first step in determining the size of your future pool house. It is then essential to follow certain steps to ensure the successful installation of your pool house on a sloping roof.

Roof pitch and orientation: what is the right choice for a pool house?
-
The special feature of any pitched roof is its slope. The same applies to the pool house, whose function is to keep you sheltered from the wind and bad weather while facilitating the drainage of rainwater. So what's the ideal slope?
As a general rule, the ideal roof pitch is between 5% and 20%, unlike flat roofs, which rarely have a pitch greater than 2%. Steeper roofs are reserved for larger areas, as in the case of a detached house, for example. Remember that a pool house rarely exceeds 25 m²!
The pitch of a pitched roof should also be calculated according to the climate zone in which you live: H1, H2 or H3 (from the coldest to the hottest). The H1 climate zone, with its harsher winters and frequent bad weather, requires a steeper roof pitch to avoid waterproofing problems.
Good to know: It's also customary to increase (or reduce) the pitch of the pool house roof depending on the material it's made from. Let's talk about it!

Which roof covering should you choose for your pool house?
-
The choice of cladding material for your sloping roof pool house depends first and foremost on the architectural style you want. Contemporary, warm or traditional? For the sake of uniformity, we recommend matching the roof cladding of your pool house to that of your outdoor pool or frontage.
Choose tiles or slate for a masonry pool, wood for an above-ground or semi-sunken wooden pool, etc. For minimum maintenance and treatment, tiles or aluminium are ideal. Lastly, steel roofing is another option to consider if you want your pool to last longer.
Whatever the case, ask your Akena advisor for advice! The choice of roof covering is both an aesthetic and a practical one. It may also be motivated by your overall budget and by the urban regulations cited in your PLU (Local Town Planning Plan).
So many variables to consider! But don't worry: we're here to advise you.

How do you install a pool house with a pitched roof?
-
The pool houses offered by Akena are ready-to-install modules that blend in perfectly with your garden. 100% made-to-measure, they are prefabricated in the factory, from the framework to the design of the openings (doors or windows in the case of an integrated box).
Once the design plans for your single-slope roof pool house have been completed, the construction stages are almost child's play:
- Submission of a preliminary works declaration to the Town Hall (if your pool house is 5 to 20 m²) or a building permit (for more than 20 m² of floor area).
- Drainage and foundations. This stage, which is specific to the construction of a pool house but also certain terraces, is designed to prevent any moisture in the ground from rising to the surface: for a watertight pool house that's 100% comfortable.
- Laying the customised module. Depending on the equipment you have chosen with your manufacturer, you will then have to take care of the minor finishing touches: plumbing, lighting or even installing balustrades for greater day-to-day comfort.
