How does Akena support you and assess your budget?
The cost of your project depends on a number of parameters: materials, equipment, accessories and your comfort requirements.
A change of scenery: your pool house inspired by the tropics
Contrary to popular belief, it's easy to create an exotic atmosphere in a pool house. The first step in transforming the space adjacent to your pool into a veritable exotic paradise lies in the choice of materials and furnishings. Look for elements that evoke a sense of escape and exoticism. Furniture, coverings, but above all accessories: everything goes!
A few details to enhance your exotic decor
The exotic style, like other pool house decoration trends, is largely determined by small details. The choice of plants, textiles and accessories are all elements that should not be overlooked! Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Textiles: sprinkle your seats with colourful cushions in floral or tropical patterns, for a warm and welcoming touch. As for rugs, it's customary to choose natural fibre or jute.
- Exotic plants : garden centres and specialist shops now stock them in abundance. These include palm trees, hibiscus bushes, orchids and yucca. Let your imagination run wild, but don't forget to ask a specialist for advice: exotic plants sometimes require special care and growing conditions that are not necessarily suited to all regions of France. Note that cold-resistant palms, such as the dwarf palm or the Chinese palm, are good options for cooler regions of France.
- Lighting: use colourful lanterns, lampshades made from ethnic fabrics, hanging garlands of lights or lanterns placed here and there to add a warm atmosphere to your evenings by the pool.
Finally, what would an exotic pool house be without a few original accessories? Travel souvenirs, unusual objects, screens or patterned rugs will brighten up your decor and add a touch of cachet. Choose woven baskets, colourful pottery or any other remarkable handcrafted object. Placemats, candleholders and essential oil diffusers are the icing on the aesthetic cake!

Exotic decor: should I opt for neutrality or colour?
To intensify the exotic feel of your pool house, you can use bright colours such as yellow, aniseed green or orange in your decorative accessories. But be careful not to overdo it! The key to decorating an exotic pool house is to start with a neutral base (wood, stone, glass and light colours) and then add a few colourful touches.

All your questions about pool houses
-
Is it possible to decorate your pool house with wooden furniture?
-
Although wood is a historic material in Europe, it is also used in other parts of the world, in the form of tropical species. Well-known to the general public, species such as teak, bamboo or rattan will find their place in your pool house, through :
- Your furniture: a coffee table, deckchairs or teak benches.
- Your lighting: a few low rattan lanterns will add undeniable character to your exotic pool house.
For greater harmony, wood (in the form of duckboard) can also be used for the surround of your pool and/or the terrace of your pool house.
Note: if there's one material that sublimates the use of wood, it's glass! Don't hesitate to combine your wooden furniture with a glass coffee table and a number of trendy mirrors. Natural stone is less often used in exotic settings, but can add an authentic touch to your pool house. If you want a mix of wood and stone, opt for slate or quartzite tiles.

How should this style of pool house be installed?
-
Apart from the furniture and accessories, there are a few very specific features that tend to create an exotic atmosphere. These include :
- Wooden bar : a space dedicated to the consumption of cold drinks: a convivial place to quench your thirst by the pool.
- The wooden outdoor lounge : opt for a slotted roof made of wooden slats to create an exotic space. A few comfortable sofas and climbing plants will complete the decor.
- A fountain: we don't think about it enough, but incorporating a small source of water such as a fountain or waterfall can make a huge contribution to the soothing ambience of your pool area!
As you can see, these elements combined will enable you to give your pool house the look of a tropical garden in no time at all. To be on the safe side, we advise you to take the time to hunt out furniture and decorative objects in keeping with your theme. Why not take advantage of the construction work on your pool house to find out about the ideal exotic decoration?
