Conservatory equipment
All our conservatory projects are tailor-made, at your home, with expert advice from our technicians. Insulation levels, blackout solutions, choice of roof infill and fronts, customisation, colours, equipment - all these subjects are covered. We present them to you below.
Roof fillings
The choice of roof infill depends on the conservatory's intended use, its exposure, the region in which it is located, whether or not it is heated, and how often it is used - all questions that deserve special attention and that will guide you towards the appropriate solution.
Each filling has different, often complementary, properties. For example, polycarbonate allows more light into the conservatory, an insulating panel protects against heat, and glazing offers total transparency, all the while knowing that a mix of materials will lead you to the ideal compromise between light and thermal insulation.

Polycarbonate
A translucent, clear or opal-coloured honeycomb material, polycarbonate lets light into the conservatory. Economical and ideal for those on a budget, a polycarbonate roof is perfect for a conservatory, winter garden or terrace conservatory.
- Lightweight and hard-wearing
- Anti-UV and anti-yellowing treatment, solar control option
- 32 or 55 mm thick

Glass
Roof glazing offers transparency and security. Glazing is ideal for conservatories with a glass roof or an artist's studio. Mix with sandwich panels for living areas for the perfect compromise between light and insulation.
NEW: triple-glazed option for even more insulation, to reduce heat loss.
- Natural light
- Laminated glazing for added security
- Reinforced insulation and solar control options

Insulating panel
Made from aluminium with insulating foam, the insulating panel or sandwich panel conceals the roof. Recommended for conservatories with 4-season living areas or habitable extensions.
OBJECTIVE: to achieve the best thermal performance and insulation in the conservatory.
- 3 exterior finish colours (White / Slate / Tile)
- Optional reinforced acoustic insulation
- 32, 66 or 93 mm thick
Front fillings
As for fronts, the range of glazing options is just as abundant; the difference lies in the level of insulation and light control, with varying insulation, light transmission and solar factor characteristics.
Your fronts can also be embellished with a variety of decorations: baseboards, architraves, sandblasting, etc.

Roof protection
A conservatory is a place bathed in light that quickly becomes a family favourite. As part of the ongoing quest for optimum comfort and the overall design of a project, you need to think about regulating the amount of light you bring in. In addition to traditional motorised roofing solutions, AKENA offers you an exceptional innovation developed by Saint-Gobain: SageGlass®, the intelligent variable-tint roof glazing. Discover it below.

Variable-tint roof glazing
SageGlass® double-glazed roof glazing, developed by Saint Gobain and adapted for AKENA conservatories, is a dynamic glazing system that offers a real alternative to roller shutters or roof blinds.
Its advanced technology allows the tint of the glazing to be varied progressively at the touch of a button: it darkens or lightens on demand to control light or shade, heat or natural warming to maintain a pleasant temperature in the conservatory. With a clear tint, you can keep your view completely unobstructed; when obscured, the glazing becomes an excellent filter against glare and heat.
No need to add shutters or blinds, the innovative SageGlass® is a 2-in-1 concept, simpler, more economical and more aesthetic!

Variosun
Composed of an insulating panel like the roof of your conservatory and a Somfy motor, this sliding roof panel, installed externally over your skylights, lets you black out your Conservatory when the light is too strong, just like conservatory blinds.
This protective sliding panel is operated by Somfy remote control to modulate the entry of sunlight onto your glass roof.
The performance of the materials is important, as they provide thermal and acoustic insulation when the Variosun is closed. It creates a real barrier to heat in the summer and limits heat loss in the winter. So you can enjoy the sunlight and protect yourself as you wish.
Available in 3 exterior finish colours, white, slate and tile, to blend in with the roof of your conservatory.

Rolax
A conservatory with a glazed roof is the ideal configuration for keeping in natural light, but it is also one that favours the greenhouse effect and the creation of heat in the conservatory.
The rolax, an electric roller shutter for glazed roofs, will stop light and heat from reaching the roof to keep the conservatory at a pleasant temperature. Easy to use, it is operated by remote control. Its aluminium curtain is wind- and sun-resistant. This made-to-measure product offers excellent sun protection.

Integrated lighting
Libr'Elec is the lighting system proposed by AKENA to enable you to enjoy your conservatory all day long. To make the most of every hour in your conservatory, you can benefit from LED lighting integrated into the structure of your conservatory. Very harmonious, aesthetic and efficient, integrated lighting, made up of LED spotlights or strips, will undoubtedly win you over. With adjustable direction and variable intensity, you can create the atmosphere you want!

Multi-purpose lighting
LED spotlights:
They are integrated into the rafters, providing lighting that is as effective as it is aesthetically pleasing. In loft extensions, the spotlights will be perfectly integrated and concealed in the flat ceiling. If you're planning to install your future kitchen or dining room in the conservatory, spotlights will be just the thing; they create the ideal comfort lighting for a functional room. Spotlights emit a warm white light, which is perfectly suited to the main rooms of the house. Tilt them to focus the light on useful surfaces such as work surfaces or tables. The lighting is controlled from the wall switch for easy switching on and dimming.
LED strips:
Installed under the rafters or around the edge of the roof, LED strips provide soft lighting for your conservatory. You can choose to create atmospheric lighting that invites you to relax, or you can opt for comfort lighting if you are installing your kitchen or dining room in your conservatory extension. In both cases, the warm white light will give you a feeling of warmth. LED strip lights are waterproof and suitable for wet rooms such as kitchens. The lighting is controlled from the wall switch, making it easy to switch on and dim.

If you have any questions...

Which roof for my conservatory?
-
Below are the different possible solutions:
Polycarbonate roofing for small budgets
Polycarbonate conservatory roofing is the economical solution for your conservatory. As strong as they are light, these roof panels, made from clear or opal honeycomb plastic, let light through evenly. Depending on the thickness you choose, 32 or 55 mm, with or without solar control, the thermal insulation will vary. Easy to maintain and less dazzling than glass, it is ideal for conservatories used between seasons, terrace shelters, winter garden conservatories or fixed-roof porches and pergolas.
While alveolar polycarbonate can be used for thermal insulation, it is more restrictive when it comes to sound insulation, with less attenuation of impact noise such as rain or hail.
Polycarbonate is the least expensive material, compared with sandwich panels and glass. So a conservatory with a polycarbonate roof is the perfect solution for customers looking for extra living space on a budget.
Good to know: to get the best compromise between light and insulation, polycarbonate can be mixed with insulating panels.
Sandwich panels for optimum insulation
The insulating panel, known as a sandwich panel, is composed, as its name suggests, of 2 aluminium facings with a rigid insulating foam filling of extruded polystyrene between them. By definition, the aluminium sandwich panel is 100% blackout: it lets neither light nor heat in. With a more pleasant temperature inside the conservatory in summer and less heat loss in winter, the sandwich panel is ideal for a conservatory that's a living space all year round.
TIP: To counteract the lack of light, sandwich panels can be perfectly combined with glass; so decorate your roof with skylights, in double or triple glazing or even SageGlass®, or plan for larger glazed areas with glazed bays that will give way to absolute light, preventing your house from becoming too dark.
To help the conservatory blend in with its surroundings or comply with town planning regulations, the outside of the aluminium cladding is available in 3 colours: white, slate and tile. On the inside, the aluminium is matt white with a grained finish, effective against glare and to enhance the volume effect.
Each panel is available in an ‘acoustic membrane’ version that improves the acoustic performance of the material. Thanks to the nature and quality of its membrane, the panel is able to absorb impact noise; the sound of rain showers or hail is therefore attenuated for more pleasant interior comfort.
REMEMBER: There's a wide choice of insulating panels for conservatories, with different thicknesses and compositions to suit your needs and uses. The thicker the sandwich panel, the better the thermal insulation. Combined with glass wool, the panel offers thermal performance that complies with RT 2012.
The glazed roof, for greater clarity
The conservatory's glazed roof is very attractive and provides excellent light and solar gain. You can choose a completely glazed roof for a totally unobstructed view of the sky. But don't forget to think about sun protection to reduce heat and glare, so you can continue to enjoy your conservatory even in summer! Opt for glazing with reinforced insulation or solar control, or add a blackout system such as a roller shutter or sliding shutter. Another solution is SageGlass glazing, which combines all the advantages: natural light and solar control thanks to its tint variation.
The glazing combines perfectly with the opaque insulating panels to create a softer, more diffused light. With a mixed roof, you opt for the perfect balance between light and insulation.
The insulation of a conservatory glass roof differs according to the type of glazing used. AKENA offers you high-performance 44.2/18/6 laminated double glazing with several levels of insulation to protect against falling objects. For conservatories with a southern exposure, we recommend Isol+Protect glazing, which has a solar control coating to stop the sun's rays from passing through, and is therefore more effective against heat.

Find out more about roller shutters...
-
Integrated roller shutters are an essential piece of equipment for your conservatory if you want security and privacy to ensure the well-being and comfort of your new living space.
AKENA offers you electric roller shutters that are perfectly integrated into the front of your conservatory, allowing you to block out the sun's rays, increase thermal insulation in both summer and winter, protect you from prying eyes and provide extra security when you're away.
They are operated electrically using a remote control with Somfy motorisation.
Enjoy your conservatory all year round with integrated roller shutters
Roller shutters integrated into your conservatory improve the comfort of your home. Thanks to the air space between the shutter and the opening, thermal performance is enhanced so you can live in your extension in summer and winter. The anti-lift system delays burglary, making your conservatory a place of peace of mind. Equipped with a Somfy motor, electric controls make life easier.
Controlling your roller shutters is child's play

Find out more about adjustable sunbreakers...
-
The sunbreaker, sun protection and a view of the garden
The adjustable sunbreaker is made up of adjustable slats, just like a Venetian blind, placed outside in front of the conservatory windows. Much more effective and robust than interior blinds, the sunbreaker stops the heat from entering before it reaches the glazing and from spreading inside the conservatory. Unlike a roller shutter, which is completely blacked out when lowered, an adjustable sunbreaker protects the inside of your conservatory while keeping the outside visible.
The sunbreaker, a protective blind that's stylish and aesthetically pleasing
These conservatory blinds add comfort and aesthetic appeal to your conservatory. The external slats, which can be tilted by remote control, allow you to choose the amount of light according to the position of the sun and regulate the temperature inside. Create the ambience you want: a cosy conservatory, a bright conservatory, you name it. When the sunbreaker is fully retracted into its housing inside the gutter, it becomes completely invisible. The underside of the final slat is the same colour as the conservatory structure, so it blends perfectly into the box.
Motorised adjustable sunbreakers
Like the integrated roller shutters, the adjustable sunbreaker is controlled by a Somfy remote control for fast, simple and effective management of the tilt of the slats. Choose the colour of the sunbreakers to blend in with your existing conservatory: white, beige, anthracite grey or light grey.
