Pergola equipment
A pergola can be equipped with a wide range of features. From the design stage of your project, several solutions are available to you: motorised adjustable slats, motorised opening roof, fixed 100% waterproof roof, flat roof. Then comes the moment to choose the equipment, roof skylights based on the BIO+ model, integrated lighting with spotlights or LED strips and side protection. There is a wide range of equipment. Roof fillings
As part of your pergola project, we suggest you start your choice with the design of the roof and its filling. Below you will find solutions that allow you to let more or less light into your terrace and also into the house. There are also solutions for modulating the light according to the orientation of the sun. Between light and shade, the choice is yours.
Options for regulating the amount of light
A pergola provides protection for your outdoor space without losing any light. But this light must be regulated, otherwise you might have to have lunch on the terrace wearing sunglasses. At AKENA, we offer you different solutions that can be adapted according to the pergola models: adjustable slats, sunbreakers on the roof as well as on the front, fixed or sliding, motorised blinds... for each project, there is a solution designed for your comfort.
Sun breaker
Available on our pergola model with opening roof, the sun breaker is placed under the transparent polycarbonate roof to manage the sunlight on the terrace. Forget parasols, shade cloths or blinds, the sun breaker is the 100% modular shading solution.
Protect Option
It is an innovation Made in AKENA available on the Bio+ bioclimatic pergola model: the skylight adapted to the pergola. Sometimes glazed, it is perfect for letting light into the house even with the pergola slats closed. Sometimes opaque, it hides the underside of an unsightly roof overhang.
Glazed version
Allows light to enter, provides natural lighting even with the slats closed and prevents darkening in winter.
Blackout panel version
Available in a solid sandwich panel version, a multi-purpose blackout strip to hide an unsightly house gutter or to facilitate insertion under a roof overhang.
Lighting
All our pergolas can be fitted with optional LED spotlights or strips. So you can extend those summer evenings by the barbecue. No need to go inside: make the most of it! Dinner or a game of cards with friends, the pergola becomes the space for your evenings.
Multiple solutions
A wide choice of lighting is available to extend your evenings and add colour to your terrace. Our low-energy LED lighting comes with a dimmer to adjust the brightness to suit the mood you're looking for, with LED spotlights integrated into the slats on the Bio+ model, in the rafters on the fixed roof model or peripheral LED strips on the other models.
On the Bio+ model, you control the slats, lighting and blinds with the same remote control, which is very handy!

Various protection solutions are available for the fronts of all our pergola models. Motorised blinds, sliding privacy screens with adjustable slats, sliding glass screens, etc. Each has different advantages, which we detail below.
Sliding privacy screens with adjustable slats
The leaves are mounted on rails in the ground and slide to suit you. The pivoting slats, like a shutter, regulate the light and protect from the heat by creating a ventilated shade under the pergola. With the slats open, let the light in to brighten up the terrace. With the slats closed, you can partition off your space to protect yourself from glare and from being overlooked.
Play on the wood/metal contrast for a contemporary pergola. The wood-effect lacquer of the slats evokes the warmth of the material, while the anthracite grey or black colour of the pergola emphasises its modernity. QUALIDECO-certified wood-effect lacquer.

Sliding glass doors
Sliding glass panels partition off the terrace to create an outdoor living space protected from the wind and the elements. They keep leaves, dust and other dirt under the pergola. They are very useful for reducing the maintenance of your terrace. With no frame, the sliding glass lets in light and offers a panoramic view of the garden. Even with the pergola closed, the terrace remains bright and the house retains its natural lighting.
