North, south, east, west... Orienting your conservatory is not something to be taken lightly! On the contrary, each orientation is important. It all depends on how you want to use your new conservatory.

Conservatory orientation: a crucial choice of exposure

Choosing theorientation of your conservatory is essential, as it will have a major influence on how you use it. Whatever the orientation of your project, there will be advantages and disadvantages in terms of climatic conditions to take into account:

EAST orientation

If your conservatory faces EAST, you'll be able to enjoy the first rays of sunshine in the morning and be in the shade in the afternoon. This orientation will make your conservatory the ideal place for breakfasts and cool breaks on hot summer afternoons.

NORTHERN orientation

With the conservatory facing NORTH, you'll be cooler all year round. This location is ideal if there is a lot of summer sunshine. This orientation is recommended for those who enjoy a very generous climate and want to protect themselves from too much sun and, above all, too much heat in summer.

SOUTH/SOUTH WEST orientation

Facing south or south-west will guarantee a very pleasant temperature in mid-season. However, the summer months are likely to be quite hot if you don't opt for protective systems (integrated roller shutters, blinds, air conditioning, etc.). This orientation is perfect for those who love the sun and warmth, but to keep the temperature pleasant all year round, blackout blinds are advisable, if only to keep out the heavy summer afternoons.

Orientation and equipment: the conservatory's winning combination

Do you see your conservatory as a real living room, or perhaps a winter garden, or even an artist's studio? Depending on your project and how it will be used, a conservatory with a certain layout may be more appropriate.

Akena Véranda - Pièce ouverte en longueur

A conservatory is a room open to the outside, made up of large bay windows, so if you want to retain your privacy, we suggest you make sure that, wherever possible, your conservatory is not overlooked (neighbours, street, etc.).

And to ensure complete security and privacy, AKENA offers you a wide range of equipment that will enable you to use your conservatory in all seasons and offset any inconveniences caused by the orientation you have chosen: roller shutters, sunbreakers, glazed conservatory roofs, roof blackout systems, lighting, etc.
