Preservation of raw material resources, recycling, optimised delivery rounds to reduce the number of kilometres travelled, sorting of both industrial and office waste, are all actions that Akena is implementing to protect the environment...

Aluminium: our infinitely recyclable resource
We choose materials that respect the environment to construct sustainable and recyclable products.
Fully recyclable, aluminium does not lose any of its physical and chemical properties when it is reused. Studies estimate that 75% of the aluminium produced since 1880 is still in use today.
We are also committed to the VALOBAT eco-organisation (approved by the public authorities) to finance the collection and recycling of end-of-life building products.
Optimised delivery rounds
AKENA is one of the first to prioritise direct transport to private homes and to optimise its routes to limit its CO2 emissions.
By prioritising deliveries to our customers, we organise intelligent routes that promote proximity.
Selective waste sorting in offices
In our offices, showrooms and canteens, waste sorting, just like at home, is compulsory! General waste, glass, paper, packaging... red, green, yellow or blue bins: everything is sorted.
The recycling of our batteries and printer cartridges
The used batteries are collected by COREPILE (an eco-organisation under State approval that collects and recycles portable batteries and accumulators).
The printer cartridges are recycled by our partner SRDI in La Boissière des Landes (85), a company specialising in the centralisation, processing and recycling of printer cartridges.
Reducing our energy consumption and waste
To reduce its energy consumption, Akena regularly makes its employees aware of the need to limit the use of lighting to what is strictly necessary, to set the heating to 19° in winter and the air conditioning to 26° in summer, to systematically switch off computers at the end of the day, and to limit the programming of the lighting in showrooms and shop signs.
Actions to promote mobility
A bus route has been set up to enable our 300 employees in Dompierre-sur-Yon to travel to our factories and limit car use.
AKENA provides its employees with the KLAXIT carpooling application. Like a BLABLA CAR, it enables employees to connect with each other to share their vehicles and thus save on journeys in order to protect our planet a little more.
Awareness-raising messages
Messages to raise awareness are regularly sent to all our employees, with examples of actions aimed at limiting our waste.
For example: ‘Let's reduce our printing. This accounts for 75% of the waste we produce. Only print what is really necessary! And remember to PRINT ON BOTH SIDES. In business as in life, the best waste is the waste we don't produce.’
Akena is involved on a daily basis in social and environmental initiatives. Initiatives in favour of associations, local consumption, employee training, waste treatment, zero waste incentives... the list is long and growing to limit our impact and raise awareness among our employees.
